refinance home loans generally worsen the terms of your mortgage, you are further risking your property if you fail to meet the monthly payments. And though you may be replacing expensive debt with cheaper and more affordable debt, you are also replacing unsecured debt with debt that is secured with your home. If you are not good at managing your finances (and that's why you had to resort to debt settlement), that's something that you'd better avoid. read more about it at:!

Tonya

When my brother got his business management degree he was taught that medical bills are not counted against your credit score. I would double check that your medical bills are being used against you and find out why (check with your legal firm). Other than that, you are on the right track and I think time is what it will take.

Dawn

For starters, are you getting FICO scores from all three credit bureaus. Equifax uses FICO but the other two have their own system with a completely different scale.

Second, creditors may not report to all three credit bureaus. They also report at different times so the information varies.

It is completely normal for all three FICO scores to be different.

Karl

Each credit scoring company has a different way to measure your credit. They are all you "real credit scores." The same way that 12", 1' and 1/3yd. are all the same distance, it's just depending on who uses it. Most companies I've encountered go by my Equifax or Experian credit score. If you don't know much about credit or credit scores, go to your local bank and talk to a financial adviser. They'll let you know what a good credit score for you and what you can do to make it better.

Big differencies between agencies happen when some of them has wrong items in your credit report.
You can use credit repair agency, for example this one - http://freecreditreport.deep-ice.com
They will clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up.

Edwin

I suggest contacting all three, though someone posted contacting Trans union would result in a report to all three I'm not so sure.

The only difference is the secret credit method they use to score you. There are two being used, and credit bureaus may use both, one of the best kept secrets of the last sixty years, or so. One is fico, the other is Fair Isaac.

Most of us in counseling have a general idea of the scoring process, but the exact, absolutely exact point accumulations, and minuses are known only to the bureaus.

One other difference may be that certain creditors, lenders, landlords, job inquiries may use this one, or that one. That is why it is important when requesting a correction it be done on all three. Here are the phone nums for you hope this helps; Experian 888-397-3742, Equifax 800-525-6285, 800-680-7289, Trans-Union.

Some people are becoming very resentful of credit bureaus, as George Orwell's 1984 arrived a long time ago. They are controversial lately for accepting debt and putting it on their records even if it is over seven years old. They get paid to put it on, and do not check it if it is correct or not, after seven years a record should be deleted by law. Factoring, the buying and selling of debts, such a big business now, that even ancient debts being purchased and put on cr bureas with the hope it will come up when you go to buy a car , or rent an apt. Rather than go thru the dispute process the owner of the debt is hoping it would be easier for you to just pay it, especially if it is not a big debt.

New regulations necessary for credit bureaus, as they are putting out a lot of false info in the age of identity theft, and debt buying and selling. There should be some verification process, before debts are reported, especially if the ownership changes hands.
