    You give them your number, they run it through a database, when your name pops up, they check things. I do believe they are linked.

    Your home address and full name(s) with all of your credit info is what is pulled up with your social security number. Your tax i.d is information linked to your company business using that business address. Yes, they have access to it. State and Government agencies do. They know the difference between the two numbers.
